Dental Anatomy

Dental Anatomy iconDental Anatomy is a series of eight modules for computer assisted instruction. Students can interact with the programs to learn and/or review dental anatomy in increasing depth with each program in the series. Using the mouse, students learn the various names and parts of the teeth. Ungraded, multiple choice, review questions reinforce and test learning.

Basic Anatomy of the Teeth A real starting point for the new student. Covers general, external and internal anatomy, the types of teeth (incisors, canines, premolars, and molars). Also includes nomenclature for arches and quadrants, anterior and posterior directions, the divisions and surfaces.
Anatomical Landmarks of the Teeth Builds on Basic Anatomy. Covers the landmarks of depressions and elevations; the curvatures such as contact areas, embrasures, contours, and interproximal spaces; the surface junctions (line and point angles); and clinical considerations.
Dentition After a review of dentition and arches and quadrants, shows the differences between primary, permanent, and mixed dentition, including age at eruption. The majority of this program is devoted to coding of dentition, explaining and giving examples of the Universal System, Palmer Notation, and the FDI System.
Dental Tissues Covers the enamel, dentin, pulp, and cementum in detail, describing the structure and composition, anomalies, classification, functions, changes, etc.
Oral Structures Includes the planes of the body, frontal and lateral views of facial landmarks, the lips and associated structures, divisions and borders of the oral cavity, the vestibule, palate, tongue, and mouth floor.
Occlusion Covers the relationships of the mandibular teeth to the maxillary teeth when the teeth are in contact.
Periodontium The last in the Dental Anatomy series, this program covers types of mucosa, divisions of the periodontium, types of gingiva, the alveolar bone and its divisions, the clinical importance of cementum, the periodontal ligaments, and clinical considerations.
